Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival Gets Big TV

“Today Show,” “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “CONAN,” “The Talk” Starting 9/23
PLUS “Entertainment Tonight” & “Access Hollywood” LIVE

kenny big revivalNew York/LA (September 18) — Kenny Chesney’s The Big Revival is an album about finding the fire to embrace your life with passion. With a September 23 release date, the East Tennessean is going to be bringing the music to network television in a way that says he’s fired up and ready to take his new music to America with verve. Starting with “The Today Show” on street date, Chesney will also perform on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (9/24), “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” (9/26), “CONAN” (9/29) and “The Talk” (10/2), as well as sit for interviews with both “Entertainment Tonight” and “Access Hollywood” live from Rockefeller Center (9/23).

“Normally I don’t get geared up for this much television,” Chesney says. “But this record makes me wanna get out and talk about it. Starting with ‘American Kids,’ all of the songs on here say so much about how the people who see their lives in my music commit to their lives – it’s a lot like showing their home videos on network TV! I’m gonna be sick of talking about me, but not this record; The Big Revival is a whole other kinda record for me.”

Already singled out by USA Today, Rolling Stone, PEOPLE, Entertainment Weekly and USA Weekend, Chesney’s 15th studio project marks the evolution of an artist who has kept his finger on the pulse of real people living in America since releasing “Young” in 2001. For Chesney, born and raised in a small East Tennessee town, life in smaller towns embraces its own way of being.

“Maybe the artists people are listening to, or the cars they’re driving have changed,” the man deemed “The People’s Superstar” by The Los Angeles Times explains. “But I promise you the little things that make your life what it is, they haven’t. Somewhere some girl has a boyfriend the Dad doesn’t like… and the boys are making out in church parking lots, then saying they got further than they did. But they’re also making life rich where they are… finding joy and having the time of their life without worrying about keeping up with the Kardashians!

“When I went in to make this record, that’s what I wanted: songs that captured the real of life in the flyover, that talked about the passion people live with and the fun they make, how hard they work and the way they set themselves free right where they are. So taking the music straight into their living rooms seems like taking it to the source.”

“American Kids,” The Big Revival’s lead single, has already spent two weeks at #1 on the Country airplay charts. Written by Shane McAnally, Russ Copperman and Luke Laird, the triple rhythm’ed, double hook celebration of the freewheeling spirit of anyone raised between New York and LA has hit a nerve with fans. “Flora-Bama,” pre-released on the heels of his stadium-show-on-the-beach at the state line, is also finding traction with the fans.

Come Tuesday, the wait and see is over. All anyone needs to do is look at the television to see what the fervor is all about. Or work on faith and get The Big Revival sight unseen.

Jackson’s prized car and special museum programs mark the occasion

Alan Jackson’s 1955 Ford Thunderbird – on display August 29- September 1

NASHVILLE, Tenn., August 19, 2014 – The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum is gearing up for the forthcoming exhibit Alan Jackson: 25 Years of Keepin’ It Country, with an opening-weekend-only artifact on display and special, exhibit-related programs.

Country fans and car enthusiasts take note. From August 29 through September 1, Jackson’s 1955 Ford Thunderbird convertible will be on display in the museum’s Curb Conservatory.  Having saved his money since he was 12 years old, Jackson bought the car when he was 15. He restored it with his dad, Gene, and drove it throughout high school before selling it to put a down payment on his first home with wife Denise. Several years later Denise tracked down the car and gave it to Alan as a Christmas gift. The T-Bird served as inspiration for his 2002 song “First Love,” and, in 2008, the car (and Denise) appeared in Jackson’s music video “Good Time.”

In addition to the car display, the museum is offering a trio of exhibit-related programs for the opening weekend. On Saturday, August 30, Jim McBride, a frequent collaborator with Jackson, will participate in a Songwriter Session at 11:30 a.m. Later that day, at 1:00 p.m. families are invited to participate in a guided tour, When Daddy Let Me Drive: The Museum’s Cool Cars, highlighting the classic vehicles on display in the museum’s galleries. Finally, on Sunday, August 31, the museum will screen Alan Jackson: The Greatest Hits Collection (1995).

Further down the road, Alan Jackson will take the stage in the museum’s new 800-seat CMA Theater as its 2014 Artist-in-Residence on October 8 and 22. Both Wednesday night concerts start at 7:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the general public at NOON (CDT) on Monday, September 8, and can be purchased at

There is no charge to view Jackson’s T-Bird in the Curb Conservatory. All programs are included with museum admission and free to museum members.

Among the artifacts featured are:

  • Monumental Mementos—items from some of Jackson’s milestone music videos, album covers and award show appearances—including the motorcycle from the cover of the album A Lot About Livin’ (and a Little ’Bout Love); water ski from the “Chattahoochee” music video; Hollywood Walk of Fame plaque; Grand Ole Opry member induction trophy and more.
    • Industry Accolades—ACM Top New Male Vocalist (Jackson’s first award); 1995, 2002, and 2003 CMA Entertainer of the Year; ACM Milestone Award; Grammy for “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)”; CMA plaque celebrating 20 years in country music; 10- and 50-million sales plaques and more.
    • Country Couture—Jackson’s first Stetson cowboy hat; the jacket Jackson wore when he signed his record deal; jacket from the cover of the album Here in the Real World; overalls worn in “Summertime Blues” music video.
    • Poet’s Pen—lyrics for “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning),” “Remember When,” “First Love,” “Drive,” and “A Woman’s Love.”

    • “On new album True Believers, he proves he can do more than create formulaic radio hits: Finding a country voice and sound of his own, Rucker shows he can leave a distinctive mark on 21st century country music.” – Associated Press

    • “…crafting the richest of his three solo country albums. [Rucker’s]…soulful rasp remains his greatest weapon, and it’s further elevated by the writing and production on True Believers. Rucker already has a formidable commercial track record, but he raises the creative bar a couple of notches with True Believers.” – Billboard

    • “Rucker throws in a soulfulness and bluesy touch on many of the songs. …he still manages to touch on the mundane aspects of quotidian life in a way that seems totally genuine and relatable whether you’re a CEO or a fork-lift driver. That could be an even bigger gift than his gritty, instantly recognizable vocals.” – Hitfix

    • “[‘Wagon Wheel’]…it’s a well-known song, but Rucker makes it his own, his rugged voice giving it a sense of experience lacking in the Old Crow Medicine Show version. Three songs about the fear of a lover leaving – ‘Lie To Me,’ ‘Heartbreak Road’ and ‘I Will Love You Still,’ which features up-and-comer Mallary Hope – give the album’s latter half a gut-punching immediacy. Rucker is astute in his treatment of the details that turn songs from vague platitudes into crush ballads. *** (out of four stars)” – RedEyeChicago
