For Blake Shelton Christmas Comes Early

Reigning ACM and CMA Male Vocalist of the year, Blake Shelton is getting ready to release his first Christmas album, Cheers it’s Christmas on October 2, 2012 on Warner Bros. Records. The album will feature several duet performances including fellow The Voice adviser Michael Bublé, long-time friend, Reba and a very special duet with his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. The album includes classic Christmas songs that have touched Blake over the years. Many of the tracks were also recorded at the famous Capitol Studios with full orchestral accompaniment.

In 2008, Blake recorded a version of Bublé’s song “Home” that garnered both artists multi-week No. 1’s and marked Blake’s fourth career multi-week No. 1 single. For Cheers it’s Christmas, Bublé and Blake have reworked the single to embody the Christmas spirit and bring you back to the holiday. Another exciting duet performance on Cheers it’s Christmas is great friend Reba. This is the first time the pair has ever performed on a record together.

Blake literally brings the album home with a track he sang and co-wrote with one of the most special women in his life, his mother, Dorothy Shackleford. Nothing exemplifies Christmas like family, and with the single “Time For Me To Come Home” Blake and his mother capture the longing for a son on the road to finally come back home for Christmas time.

Don’t Mess With Kelly Clarkson, Or Blake Shelton Will Throat Punch You…

Recently, Kelly Clarkson has been attacked by many of her Twitter followers after she tweeted, “I love Ron Paul. I liked him a lot during the last Republican nomination and no one gave him a chance. If he wins the nomination for the Republican party in 2012 he’s got my vote. Too bad he probably won’t.”

Personally, I don’t have a problem with celebrities, musicians or even athletes tweeting about their religion, politics or favorite type of peanut butter, but, if they do go down that road, they’d better have some pretty tough skin.

Fortunately for Kelly, she’s got one of country music’s biggest stars pledging his support. Blake Shelton tweeted yesterday, “@kelly_clarkson I love you!!!! I’ll listen to your viewpoints anytime. And I really wouldn’t mind throat punching someone for you either!!”

My favorite part of Blake’s tweet is this sentence, “I’ll listen to your viewpoints anytime.” (Well, I really loved the throat punch comment as well…) Why? Because that’s what it is. Kelly is giving her view. One of my best friend’s political and religious views are directly opposite from mine, but that doesn’t mean I hate him. On the contrary, I actually enjoy talking to him because I get to hear a different perspective from my own. Fortunately, we do agree on a few things like the love of country music.

Anyway, without getting too deep on you, just wanted to share my view, which is to lighten up. Disagree with the view, but the not the person. Trust me, it can be done…
