Top Music Critics And Fans Agree Colt Ford’s Declaration Of Independence is No.1

Nashville, TN  — Colt Ford’s fourth studio album, Declaration of Independence, has made its way on the top of the album charts taking the No.1 spot on the Billboard Country albums chart and #5 overall on the Billboard 200. This is the highest career album debut for Colt Ford and his independent record label, Average Joes Entertainment.

“I just can’t thank my fans enough for making this record No. 1,” says an emotional Ford. “I believed this was my best album yet, and my fans have just proved I was right.  Today is a great day and I am so blessed.”

The critics agree with Ford and his fans. The Associated Press says, “Ford not only illustrates that country music can continue to draw on other contemporary musical styles, he also shows that modern-era rednecks can mix with the rest of the world, too.”

“…between the high-powered guests and his dead-on takes of small-town life, this album will resonate long after the novelty wears off.” USA Today

“…it simply sounds like a natural representation of the South.” Billboard

“He marries country and hip-hop components with the finesse of a veteran diplomat.” MSN Music

“He truly is a rough-edged but good-natured country boy who knows exactly what he’s talking about, and he knows that there’s more to life than partying. And just like before, he knows how to prove that country and rap are two great tastes that taste great together.” Roughstock

“Every now & then there is an album released and once you hear it, you start calling all your friends and have them come over to listen.  Colt Ford’s Declaration of Independence is one of those albums.” Country Music Rocks

“Anyone with an open mind who is willing to accept that the boundaries of all genres of music are constantly being expanded will be drawn in by Colt Ford. Don’t fight it, just listen.” Country Music Is Love

The long list of celebrities and artists who support the music Colt Ford creates is more than stellar. Notable acts shared the news on release day (8/7) including, Dierks Bentley, Kix Brooks, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Josh Kelley, Hank Williams Jr., Lauren Alaina, John Rich, Lee Brice, Jerrod Niemann, Uncle Kracker, Rob Bironas, David Ragen and Ricky Carmichael, just to name a few.

That support of artists propels Ford him to continue creating music for his fans. “I cannot say how much that means to me and how humbling it is when those artists, artists that I have such huge amount of respect for, that I’m a fan of, and I’m friends with support me,” explains Ford. “A bunch of them sent out messages – along with the guys on the record which is awesome, but when guys that don’t have anything to do with the record do it- it just blows me away. That’s why I’m a country artist. That’s why I love the country genre more than anything in the world because that’s what we do. We help one another.”

Lauren Alaina To Release New Single, “Eighteen Inches” On July 16

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mercury Nashville/19 Recordings/Interscope artist Lauren Alaina will release her new single, “Eighteen Inches,” to radio on July 16. The song was co-written by Carrie Underwood, Kelley Lovelace and Ashley Gorley.

“It’s amazing to have an artist like Carrie Underwood, whom I look up to so much write my single,” beamed Alaina. “Kelley, Ashley, and Carrie all did a wonderful job writing such an incredible song. I feel so honored to be able to bring to life the beautiful story within the song.”

“It’s so wonderful when a song you had a hand in writing finds the perfect home,” said Carrie Underwood. “Lauren’s voice tells the story of ‘Eighteen Inches’ beautifully. What an incredible talent!”

The 17 year-old singer/songwriter is nominated for two Teen Choice Awards. Her nominations are for Choice Female Country Artist and Choice TV: Female Reality Star (AMERICAN IDOL). TEEN CHOICE 2012 celebrates the hottest teen icons in television, music, film, sports, fashion and other aspects of pop culture. The two-hour special airs live Sunday, July 22 (8:00-10:00 PM, ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX.

The American Idol Season 10 runner up released her debut album Wildflower and it landed at No. 2 on the Billboard’s Top Country Album chart and an impressive No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200. She became the youngest female artist to debut this high on the Billboard charts since LeAnn Rimes’ debut 15 years ago and is the best-selling country female debut since 2006.

She landed her first major tour opening for fellow Georgia natives Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan for Aldean’s “My Kinda Party” Arena Tour and is currently on tour opening for Sugarland’s “In Your Hands” tour.  In addition to her two TEEN CHOICE nominations, she received her first major award nominations this year for the CMT Music Awards “USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year” for her top 30 hit “Georgia Peaches.”

Friday News Break – Garth Is Honored, Martina Gives Back And Lauren Alaina Wants To Write With Taylor

Martina McBride YWCA Celebrity Auction

Here are a few stories that caught our eye today:

From Garth Brooks Joins Songwriters Hall of Fame – Garth Brooks was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday night (June 16) in New York City. The induction class also included John Bettis, Leon Russell, Allen Toussaint and the team of Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly (cont.)

From Martina McBride’s YWCA Celebrity Auction Raises Over $153,000 – Martina McBride helped the YWCA Celebrity Auction bring in over $153,000 on Sunday, June 12, a 50% increase over last year’s total. Martina has hosted the event since 1995 and it was the dress she wore at the Grand Ole Opry re-opening following the Nashville floods that brought in the highest bid of the night, when a fan from Texas paid $27,000 for it (cont.)

From Lauren Alaina: ‘I Want to Write With Taylor Swift’ – Lauren Alaina is doing so much post-’American Idol‘ media coverage that you might think she actually won, instead of placing second to Scotty McCreery on Season 10. The Boot chatted with the pretty blonde singer, unearthing the story behind the first song that the 16-year-old ever wrote and her dream collaborator. It’s not Scotty — it’s Taylor Swift (cont.)
