Reba McEntire Is Alive And Well – Death Rumors Were 100% Fake

If you were like me, you were shocked, but highly skeptical last night when news of Reba McEntire’s death started circulating around Twitter and Facebook. Unfortunately for Reba and her followers, she was the victim of a fake death hoax for “entertainment purposes” on a website.

If you didn’t hear about it, here’s what the site published:

Actress Reba Mcentire died while filming a movie in Kitzbühel, Austria early this morning – January 30, 2012

Preliminary reports from Austrian Police officials indicate that the actress fell more than 100 feet to her death in a remote area of the Hahnenkamm mountains while on-set during the filming of a movie. Specific details are not yet available.

The accident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. (UTC/GMT +12).

Additional details and information will be forthcoming.

Unfortunately, most of Reba’s fans who read this, didn’t see this in the fine print at the bottom of the site that also said:

about FakeAWish.com. FAKE… THIS STORY IS 100% FAKE! this is an entertainment website, and this is a totally fake article based on zero truth and is a complete work of fiction for entertainment purposes! this story was dynamically generated using a generic ‘template’ and is not factual. Any reference to specific individuals has been 100% fabricated by web site visitors who have created fake stories by entering a name into a blank ‘non-specific’ template for the purpose of entertainment.

We’re just glad that Reba is alive and well and sorry that she and her fans had to deal with this.

The Voice keeps getting better… It was announced yesterday that Reba McEntire will join the cast of The Voice as Blake Shelton’s mentor. While browsing one of our favorite sites, CountryMusicTattleTale.com, we noticed an article featuring the Reba Barbie Doll. Did you know there was a Reba Barbie Doll? We didn’t, but then again, we’re not exactly up on the latest Barbie Doll toys.

We just thought we’d mention it in case you were looking for birthday ideas for that special Reba fan in your house.

Also, in case you missed this over the weekend, the video playlist below is for the Reba Project. In honor of Reba’s birthday, two of Reba’s biggest fans on Twitter, @RonnieReebsFan and @Reba_Fan_12, created a video project with the help of many of Reba’s Tweebas (Reba’s Twitter fans) telling Reba something special about how she has influenced their lives. It’s a touching tribute that shows just how much Reba is loved by her fans.
